Nationally Ranked Performances Highlight Weekend

RESULTS

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The indoor track and field season is well underway across the country, and the Bethel Royals are putting up national caliber performances. This weekend, the women's team split their squad between the St. Olaf Quad, and the MSU-Mankato Open. Team scores were kept at St. Olaf, where the Royals finished fourth.

"Our ladies came out and competed with a purpose this weekend," says Head Coach Andrew Rock. "We wanted to come in and establish some great early season marks. I'm really proud of how we continue to develop a team that cares for each other, rallies around each other, and pushes each other to be our best."

Sophomore Delia Labatt (58.42), freshman Hannah Sankey (58.50), and junior AddieKay Johnson (1:00.41) swept the top three spots in the 400m. Those times rank Labatt and Sankey 9th and 10th within NCAA Division III. Erin Alpers followed up with a top-10 national performance of her own, winning the 800m in 2:18.33. At the end of the day, the 4x400m relay team consisting of Labatt, Alpers, Corin McKinstrey, and Syri Williams won their race with a time of 4:05.07. That time puts the Royals on top of the MIAC rankings as well as 13th in Division III. McKinstrey and Williams kept the competitiveness rolling in the 60m Hurdles, placing second and third, respectively. Freshmen Sally Paul aslo won the triple jump for the second meet in a row with a leap of 10.22m (33'6.5").

Annika Halverson led a group of Bethel distance runners in Mankato. Halverson came away with the 18th best time in Division III this year in the 3000m running 10:11.39, for third place in the meet.

Come cheer on the Royals on Saturday, February 3rd as Bethel hosts the Gene Gladder Invitational. Field events begin at 10:30 a.m. and running events start at 11:00 a.m. in the Sport and Recreation Center (SRC).
