ST. PAUL - The Bethel University women's hockey team held the high powered Hamline University Pipers below their season scoring average for the second straight game but unfortunately for Bethel, the Royals offense didn't match the Pipers, falling 4-1. The Pipers, ranked No. 10 in the latest polls got a combined eight points from their trio of Bre Simon, Darby Dodds and Sarah Bobrowski who all rank in the top four in NCAA DIII in scoring with point totals in the mid-30's. Bethel's lone score came with just 10 seconds remaining in the game from
Sarina Goos with an assist from
Briita Nelson. Hamline scored once in the first, twice in the second and once in the third to build their 4-0 lead.
The loss drops Bethel to 7-10-2 and 3-7-2 in the MIAC. With three series remaining the Royals are just three points out of playoff position as they look to make their seventh appearance in the last eight years in the postseason. All three series for Bethel will come against teams either below them in the standings or just in front with Saint Mary's, St. Olaf and St. Kate's still remaining. Bethel will travel to Winona, Minnesota next Friday night to take on Saint Mary's before hosting the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon.
