Royals Roll to Season Opening 9-0 Sweep of Central College
ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Bethel University men's tennis team opened their 2018 season in style Saturday night, dominating Central College by the tune of 9-0. The Royals won all six singles matches in straight sets and took care of business in doubles as well.
The Royals No. 1 doubles team of
Hunter Fernelius and
Zach Kantor dominated their match with a 8-1 win. At No. 2 doubles senior
Jakob Bartels and sophomore
Zeke Delain won 8-5 while Nick Knudson and
Peter Lindberg won at No. 3 doubles 8-4. The singles matches saw
Hunter Fernelius roll to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1.
Zach Kantor won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Jakob Bartels took down his opponent 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 while Knudson won big 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. The No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches were much the same, all Royals, as
Zeke Delain and
Peter Lindberg won by 6-3, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-2 respectively.Â
The Royals will return to action in southern Minnesota next Saturday when they take on both Wartburg College and Bethany Lutheran at the Owatonna Tennis Club beginning at 10 a.m.
