RESULTS
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The women's track and field team won six events and placed 2nd in the team scores at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic at Macalester on Friday. Gustavus won the team competition with 185 points, the Royals earned 145 points, St. Kate's had 65 points, Maclaster was 4th with 60 points, and Augsburg ended with 44 points. "I am very happy with how our women's team looked tonight," said Head Coach Andrew Rock. "The 200m runners were very impressive tonight. All eight of our 200m runners had the best season-opener of their career."
Delia Labatt captured the victory with a time of 25.96, which puts her 6th on the Division III national honor roll. Hannah Sankey took 2nd place with a time of 26.34, which puts her 13th in Division III. In the 600m race, Erin Alpers crossed the finish line well ahead of the field with a time of 1:39.33. A pair of freshman stole victories in their very first collegiate competition. Freshman Sally Paul was clutch as she won the triple jump with her final leap of 10.44m (34'3"). Fellow first year Sadie Koelz won the pole vault as she cleared 2.90m (9'6.25"). Senior Hayley Cermin also came away with a victory in the long jump, as she lept 4.55m (14'11.5").
The Royals will try to build off of this solid start next week as they compete at St. Olaf on Friday, January 26th.
