RESULTS
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The full force of the Bethel Royals track and field team was on display on Friday at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic. The men's team took home the team title with 170 points over MIAC rivals Gustavus (157 points), Augsburg (60), and Macalester (59). The Royals won six events and had 18 top-3 finishes on the day.
Karl Olsen highlighted the day with a victory in the 200m. His time of 22.16 ranks him 3rd in the nation within Division III, and is just 0.06 seconds off his own school record. The men's 4x400m relay team was first to cross the finish line in a time of 3:25.86, which puts them 8th on the Division III honor roll. Dan Wahlstedt won the 600m in 1:24.30, while David Huffman ran 2:41.56 to garner another win for the middle distance crew in the 1000m. James Moyer had the top long jump of the day with a leap of 6.16m (20'2.5"), and Boston Knighton-Johnson won the pole vault with a lifetime best jump of 4.28m (14'0.5").
"We had a lot of terrific performances for this early in the season," says Head Coach Andrew Rock. "Our guys have been putting in the hard work in practice, but it was great to see them rise to this competitive level."
The Royals will try to build off of their solid start to the indoor season at St. Olaf on Friday, January 26th.
