Bethel Extends Win Streak to Eight with Win over Concordia

MOORHEAD, Minn.—Bethel University's women's basketball team won their eighth straight game Monday evening, defeating Concordia College at Memorial Auditorium 78-63. The Royals (11-4, 6-2 MIAC) outscored the Cobbers 46-29 in the first half and cruised to a 15-point road victory over the Cobbers (5-10, 2-6 MIAC).
 
Leading 23-17 with 8:18 remaining in the second quarter BU went on a 15-0 run over the next four minutes to grab a 21-point lead. Concordia narrowed the gap to 10 at the end of the third quarter, but Bethel maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game and left Moorhead victorious for the second straight occurrence.
 
Bethel finished the rare Monday night contest shooting 57.1 percent from the floor, 41.7 percent from long range, and 64.3 percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, BU's defense held Concordia to 36.4 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent shooting from long range. The Royals dominated in the paint, doubling the Cobbers 52-26, and in bench points, 29-17.
 
Taite Anderson led all players with 21 points, nine rebounds, and two steals on 10-of-13 shooting in 24 minutes. Hannah Simpson had a breakout performance, going 7-of-10 for 18 points, four boards, and three assists in 17 minutes.
 
MIAC Player of the Week Hannah Johnson tallied 14 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks, while Jasmin Bretoi and Abby Miller scored nine and eight points, respectively. Angie Kirchoff added six points, four assists, and two steals.
 
Bethel's tough slate continues Wednesday evening when they put their eight-game win streak to test against the University of St. Thomas. BU and the No. 13 Tommies are scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m.
