Bragg's 5-Under, Tucker's Hole-In-One Highlight Opening Tournament

HAM LAKE, Minn. — Bethel University's men's golf team opened 2017 on a high note, as the Royals took fourth place—just two strokes back of second and nine strokes back of first—out of 19 total teams at the Augsburg University Fall Invitational. BU fired a two-day score of 587 (295-292) at the par-72, 6,675-yard Majestic Oaks Golf Course.

Noah Bragg led the Royals with a two-day score of 139, which placed him second among all 107 participants. His 5-under-par total was the result of Saturday's 69 and Sunday's 70. Jon Espe tallied Bethel's second-best score with a two-day total of 146, which included an even-par round of 72 Sunday. Just behind Espe was Dallas Marvin, who fired a 74 Saturday and 75 Sunday, and Noah Frobom, who composed a 78-75 in his first collegiate golf meet.

Even though it was Bragg that led BU over the weekend, it was newcomer Ben Tucker that made the biggest shot on the course. Tucker, who was playing with Bethel's B team, drained a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th, which happened to be his final hole on day one of the tournament.

The Royals continue their fall season with two meets this upcoming weekend. Select members will compete in the Gopher Invitational at Pioneer Creek on Sunday and Monday, September 10-11, while others will play in the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational at Wild Ridge and Eau Claire Country Club the same days.
