ARDEN HILLS, Minn.— The Bethel men's tennis team rebounded from a tough lost last weekend by defeating Saint Mary's University 9-0. This win was the first conference win for the Royals and improved their overall record to 13-4.
The Royals came out strong as they took all six singles matches. No. 1 singles player
Matt Schull lost his first set 4-6 before he rallied back to win the second set 6-4 and the third set tiebreaker 10-5.
Hunter Fernelius also breezed through his No. 3 singles match winning 6-0 and 6-2. Schull and Fernelius later joined forces to win in a close No. 1 doubles match 9-8 (7-1).
Jakob Bartels also enjoyed a win at No. 4 doubles, winning 6-1, 6-1. Bartels and his No. 3 doubles partner
Henry Morris won 8-3. No. 2 singles player
Kolin Kiekhoefer defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-1, while
Noah Ridgway won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Kiekhoefer and Ridgway later won 8-4 in their No. 2 doubles match.
Bethel will look to continue their momentum next Saturday as they travel to Collegeville to take on the Johnnies of Saint John's University. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
