2017 Spring Break Blog: Day 9

Box Score Spring break 2017 has begun for Bethel University sport teams, as many teams have made their way to warmer climates for the week off of school. Throughout the nine-day period, we'll try to keep you up-to-date on all the happenings of each team traveling for spring break. In addition to reading our daily blog on bethelroyals.com, be sure to follow us on our twitter and instagram for more in-depth information. Fans can also join in the conversation by using the hashtag #BUSB17 in their social media use.

Baseball 

The Bethel University baseball team finished off their spring break trip with a 4-1 win over Carroll University Sunday morning. The Royals got one run in the first, two in the fourth, and an insurance run in the fifth before Carroll got one back in the ninth. Austin Ledin finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of runs driven in, while Sam Horner recorded three singles in three plate appearances. David Cushing earned his first win of the season, as the sophomore hurler allowed four hits, one walk, and no runs in 6.0 innings pitched. John Leach tossed 2.1 innings and Jake Marsh picked up his first career save after recording the final two outs of the final frame. BU's season doesn't slow down, as the Royals fly back from Florida late Sunday night and then depart to Illinois for a three-game series at Wheaton College after practice Thursday evening. Bethel will face Edgewood College Friday at 2 p.m., then Northland College and Wheaton College on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
 
Men's and Women's Track and Field
 
The Bethel University track and field team traveled back to Minnesota Sunday morning after competing in the Ross and Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet Saturday afternoon. The Royals will be in action again Saturday, April 1, when taking part in the Piper Invitational at Hamline University.
