Box Score 3 Spring break 2017 has begun for Bethel University sport teams, as many teams have made their way to warmer climates for the week off of school. Throughout the nine-day period, we'll try to keep you up-to-date on all the happenings of each team traveling for spring break. Baseball
Bethel's baseball team enjoyed their only off day of the nine-day trip Tuesday.
Men's Golf
The Bethel University men's golf team had a practice day at night, playing 18 holes of night golf Tuesday.
Women's Golf
The Bethel University women's golf played a pair of matches against Flagler College at Palencia Country Club Tuesday afternoon. The Royals tied the Saints with Katie Engelking and
Christine Piwnica winning both their matches.
Softball
The Bethel softball team had two exciting games Tuesday night under the lights. The Royals, who endured a 17-2 setback against Messiah on their first day, played Messiah again as the sun was setting Tuesday and fell by a final score of 7-4. BU bounced back in game two, however, and
defeated Endicott College 6-0. Their win over the Gulls, who are 4-2 overall, was their first shutout of the 2017 season.
Maddie Fauth finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI in Bethel's win over Endicott, while
Hannah Schmidt tallied her first collegiate home run and win inside the circle.
Men's Tennis (
Stats)
The Bethel University men's tennis team picked up two more wins Tuesday, as they defeated Dallas Baptist 7-2 and Saint Ambrose 8-1. The Royals earned three early points against DBU by sweeping doubles play. They then finished singles play 4-2 with wins at No. 1, 2, 3, and 6. BU then topped SAU in similar fashion, sweeping doubles play and going 5-1 in singles play.
Matt Schull and
Hunter Fernelius finished the day 3-0, while
Cash Rodamaker and
Henry Morris each went 2-0
Women's Tennis (
Stats)
The Bethel University women's tennis team improved to 4-0 on their spring break trip with 8-1 victories over Illinois Wesleyan and a Saint Ambrose University. The Royals swept doubles play in both matches and finished 5-1 in singles play in both matches. Many players posted a 4-0 record throughout the day, including
Mattie Kidder, Jill Weinzetell,
Sami Hindt,
Mattie Lubben, and
Meghan Schuler.
Men's and Women's Track and Field
The Bethel University men's and women's track and field team was able to volunteer at the San Diego food bank after spending the day at Mission Beach.
