Spring break 2017 has begun for Bethel University sport teams, as many teams have made their way to warmer climates for the week off of school. Throughout the nine-day period, we'll try to keep you up-to-date on all the happenings of each team traveling for spring break. Baseball (Box Score 1)
Bethel baseball enjoyed their annual game against the Minnesota Twins Rookie Team Monday afternoon. The Royals and Twins played at a brand new ball park, which was located on the southwest corner of the facility. BU lost the nine-inning exhibition game 11-1, but managed to play nearly every athlete on their travel roster, including six pitchers.
John Horner recorded the team's only RBI of the day, while
John Leach got the start.
Men's Golf
Bethel's men's golf team escaped the rain that was anticipated in the Myrtle Beach area and as a result, managed to play Myrtle Beach National, which is a course designed by the late Arnold Palmer.
Women's Golf
The women's golf team played King and Bear Golf Course in St. Augustine, Florida today. The course is the only collaboration between golf's greatest legends, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. Following their memorable round, Bethel's women's golf team visited the World Golf Hall of Fame, which is also located in St. Augustine.
Softball
The Bethel University softball team improved to 3-1 on their spring break trip with a pair of wins over Ripon College and Saint Mary's College Monday morning. The Royals began their day with a 3-2 victory over Ripon at 8 a.m. and later closed their slate with a 7-5 triumph over SMC.
Anna Nichols had a banner day for BU, as the senior recorded two home runs at the plate and two wins inside the circle. Nichols finished 3-for-7 inside the batter's box with three runs scored and eight RBI. She also allowed two hits and one earned run in 9.0 innings pitched, while striking out two batters.
Jana Roste also performed well, going 3-for-7 in two games played with a walk, one double, and three runs scored.

The Bethel University women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the spring break trip with a 7-2 victory over Dickinson College Monday afternoon. The Royals started the day with a 2-1 result in doubles play and continued with a 5-1 finish in singles play.
Sydney Parkinson went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and doubles, along with
Jill Weinzettel at No. 3/1, and
Sami Hindt at No. 4/3.
Mattie Kidder had perhaps the most thrilling match, winning 6-3, 7-6 (7-0) at No. 2 singles.
Men's and Women's Track and Field
The Bethel men's and women's track and field team boarded a plane for San Diego, California Monday morning. The Royals are taking part in the Ross & Sharon Irwin Meet hosted by Point Loma University on Saturday, March 18.
