BaseballThe Royals enjoyed an off day Sunday after playing four games over the past two days. Bethel's baseball team maximized their off day with a team chapel in the morning followed by a trip to Fort Myers Beach in the afternoon. BU faces the Minnesota Twins Rookie Team Monday, March 14 at noon.
SoftballBethel dropped their opening game of the day to Frostburg State University 0-6, but rebounded in game two and went on to defeat Concordia University 8-7 in extra innings. The Royals led the Falcons 7-0 in game two and despite a furious comeback attempt by CUW Bethel never surrendered the lead. They needed
Abbie Bircher's game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth, however, to top Concordia. After the international rule was implemented, which put a base-runner on second base, Bircher blasted a base hit up the middle that proved to be the game-winner. Not including the second game Sunday, Bircher is 5-for-9 with two walks and two runs while in Florida.
