ST. PAUL—
Kalli Zimmermann became the 15th player in Bethel University women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points Saturday, as she needed 12 points coming into the regular season finale at Hamline University. Zimmermann finished with 15, as the Royals (16-9, 12-6 MIAC) defeated the Pipers (3-22, 1-17 MIAC) in Hutton Arena by a final score of 69-53.
BU led by three at the half and five at the end of three quarters, but a 6-0 run soon into the fourth frame gave the Royals more than enough separation to closeout the contest with a 16-point advantage.
Not only did
Kalli Zimmermann acquire access to the 1,000-point club, but she also notched her second double-double of the season and 10th career with 10 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks in the afternoon matinee.
Senior
Sydney Schultz was on fire in her last regular season game, as she finished 5-of-6 from downtown for a game-high 16 points.
Also scoring in double figures was
Rachel Parupsky and
Molly O'Toole, who poured in 11 and 10 points, respectively. O'Toole just missed a double-double with nine rebounds, while Parupsky collected eight boards and four blocks. Parupsky's four swats now give her 17 blocks in the last four games.
At 16-9 overall and 12-6 against MIAC opponents, Bethel is locked in at the No. 5 seed heading into the postseason next week. The Royals will face No. 4 Concordia in Moorhead on Tuesday, March 23 at 7 p.m.
