MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team closed out their 2015-16 season on a high note with a 4-1 victory over Concordia College.
Justin Bonanno recorded his first career hat trick as the sophomore forward scored the first two Royals goals in the first period and the last goal late in the third period. Senior
Matt Rowe allowed just one goal in net for Bethel, making 48 saves.
Bonanno's first goal came just 25 seconds into the game to give the Royals a quick lead. The second goal came short-handed at 9:19 in the first, both unassisted. Bethel was able to add a power play goal in the second period with just 59 seconds remaining to go up 3-0 heading into the third.
Andrew Bjorklund scored the Bethel goal with
Nick Eytcheson and
JT Walters getting the assists. Concordia scored their lone goal of the game at 8:18 in the third. Bonanno then cemented the Royals third MIAC victory of the season at 17:46 with his third, this time with assists to
George Splichal and
Eric Szafranski.
The win wraps up the season for Bethel as they finish 4-19-2 and 3-13 in MIAC play, winning two of their final three games.
