ST. PAUL - The Bethel University women's basketball team took on Macalester College Friday evening and pulled away with an 82-59 win. The win for the Royals (8-1, 4-0 MIAC) is their seventh consecutive win of the season as they remain unbeaten in MIAC play.
Bethel came out strong in the first quarter, scoring 23 points while Macalester totaled just eight. The Royals kept pounding on the Scots throughout the second quarter, going into halftime leading the Scots 43-23.
Macalester was able to oustcore the Royals in the third quarter, 19-17, but Bethel responded with a strong fourth quarter to put the finishing touches on the 23 point victory.
The Royals scored 22 points off of Macalester turnovers while the Scots scored only 12. Bethel also posted 19 second chance points to Macalester's 12.
Kalli Zimmerman led the Royals with 22 total points and 11 rebounds while shooting a perfect 8-8 from the floor and a near perfect 6-7 at the free throw line.
Shanni Moorse posted 18 points shooting 60% from field goals and 80% from the line.
Hannah Johnson also posted 13 points in just 13 minutes played.
Bethel will next take to the court on December 29th and 30th in Wisconsin Dells as they will take on UW-Stout and UW-Oshkosh in the JustAgame Fieldhouse.
