MILWAUKEE—The Bethel University women's basketball team rebounded from Friday night's
gut-wrenching loss against Carthage College by defeating tournament host Wisconsin Lutheran 66-51 on the second and final day of the 2016 Paul F. Knueppel Classic. The Royals (2-1, 0-0 MIAC) shot 51 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from downtown en route to a 15-point victory over the Warriors (0-2, 0-0 NACC).

BU led from the get go, as the Royals used a 13-3 run in the opening quarter to build a 17-7 advantage after the first frame. Bethel stretched their lead to 10 at the midway mark and later utilized a 14-3 run in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Bethel forced WLC—a team that has reached the NCAA Tournament six consecutive seasons—into 19 turnovers, opposed to their own 14, which led to an 18-7 advantage in points off of turnovers. Moreover, the Royals dominated Wisconsin Lutheran inside—outscoring their opponent 40-20 in the paint—and off the bench—outscoring the Warriors 17-7 in bench points.

Freshman
Taite Anderson had her best game as a Royal, as she finished with a career-high 16 points and four rebounds in 35 minutes played.
Angie Kirchoff contributed 11 points, two rebounds, and two assists, while
Shanni Moorse added nine points, five boards, three assists, and two blocks.

BU's defense forced WLC to shoot 38.6 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from outside the arc. Jen Dowden led the Warriors with a game-high 18 points and two rebounds.

Bethel's next opponent is No. 12-ranked UW-River Falls, who was also at the Paul F. Knueppel Classic this weekend. The Royals and Falcons face off Tuesday, November 22 at 5:30 p.m.
