MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. - The Bethel University women's hockey team exercised some demons by defeating the University of St. Thomas 3-1 in the St. Thomas Ice Arena, the site of the MIAC championship game each of the last two seasons which were won by the Tommies over Bethel. With the Royals looking to start the weekend off right, Bethel sophomore
Sarina Goos put them on the board halfway through the first period, while junior goalie
Michelle Klimstra kept the Tommies scoreless through the first period. St. Thomas was able to tie the game with about seven minutes remaining in the second period left. With the game tied going into the final period, Bethel broke the tie, scoring two unanswered goals. The game-winning goal was scored by freshman
Abby Felton, while Goos tallied her second goal of the night on an empty-net. Klimstra finished the night with 33 saves.
Bethel will face St. Thomas this Saturday at the National Sports Center. With their win on Friday, they are in line for a series sweep. This would be the Royals first sweep of the season, which would push them two games above .500. The puck will drop at 3 p.m.
