SMU Completes MIAC Series Sweep Over Bethel, 4-2

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team lost another close contest Saturday night, 4-2 to the Saint Mary's University Cardinals. After an evenly played, scoreless first period, with both teams getting 15 shots on goal, the two squads combined for five goals in the second period. Saint Mary's scored the first two before the two teams traded goals back and forth as the Royals were within one goal twice but just could not get the equalizer.

Dallas Marvin scored a pretty goal for the Royals with an assist from George Splichal to make it 2-1 SMU at 8:22 in the second period. After another Saint Mary's score Andrew Bjorklund got Bethel back within one with his third goal of the season on an assist from Marvin. SMU scored their final goal halfway through the third period for the 4-2 final.

The Royals fall to 0-2 in the MIAC and 1-5 overall. They will be back in action next weekend against the University of St. Thomas. Bethel will host the Tommies Friday night at Bethel University Arena before traveling to Mendota Heights on Saturday evening.
