RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Bethel University men's hockey team went on the road for a rare Tuesday night contest as they took on the No. 12-ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons and fell by a 3-0 score. Both teams were looking to get a sour taste out of their mouth from the previous matchup on January 14th when the Royals led the entire game until UWRF scored with seven seconds remaining in regulation to create a 2-2 tie. This time UW-River Falls jumped out to a lead just 3:19 into the first period and added another goal each period to take the 3-0 victory.
Bethel's
Matt Rowe made his season debut in net for the Royals and gave a solid performance, making 28 saves. The Falcons second period goal came shorthanded after they created a turnover in their offensive end. UW-River Falls last goal came on a power play, their seventh of the night to just four for Bethel.
The Royals fell to 2-13-2 overall while UW-River Falls improved to 13-5-3. Bethel returns to MIAC play this weekend with a series with the Hamline University Pipers. Both games start at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night with Friday's taking place at Oscar Johnson Arena and Saturday in Bethel University Arena.
