Box Score 4 BaseballBox Score | The Bethel University baseball team improved their overall record to 8-2 (5-1 over spring break) with a 16-2 win over Lasell College. The Royals built an 11-1 lead after three innings and cruised to a 14-run victory.
Bryce Marquardt finished Thursday's nine-inning contest 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBI's, three runs, and one stolen base.
Sean Glenn picked up a win in his first start of the season, giving up one earned run on seven hits and three walks in 7.0 innings pitched. Glenn struck out six along the way. Additionally,
Matt Conrad finished the day with a hit-by-pitch, inside-the-park home run, walk, and sacrifice fly, which resulted in a 1-for-1 day at the plate and three RBI's.
Men's GolfThe Bethel University men's golf team returned to Tranquilo Golf Course at Four Seasons Orlando for a practice round before tomorrow's match against Florida Tech at Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Florida.
SoftballThe Bethel University softball team enjoyed their second and final off day of the spring break trip. The Royals filled their day with an MLB spring training game between the Minnesota Twins and the Tampa Bay Rays. During the game Abigail Bircher was invited to play an on-field game and won! Follwoing the contest at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Florida, Bethel's squad loaded up the vans and drove down to Sarasota Beach for the evening.
Men's TennisThe Bethel University men's tennis team split Thursday's doubleheader with polar opposite scores. The Royals dropped the morning match against UW-La Crosse 0-9, but overcame their defeat with a 9-0 rout against Knox College later in the afternoon.
Peter Lindberg and
Luke Palmquist won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles to help BU sweep the doubles play, while
Cash Rodamaker and Lindberg both swept their opponent at No. 5 and 6 singles. With Thursday's results, Bethel completed their spring break trip 4-3 and are now 8-8 on the season.
Women's TennisThe Bethel University women's tennis team lost a heartbreaker against SUNY New Paltz on Thursday afternoon 5-4, but managed to avenge the loss with a 9-0 victory over Knox Thursday evening. The Royals finished singles play against New Paltz even at 3-3, including a huge win for
Mattie Kidder at No. 4 singles (4-6, 6-2, 10-8) and
Larissa Voss at No. 6 singles (6-4, 7-5). Unfortunately for BU, though, SUNY held on at both No. 1 and 2 doubles by a final of 8-6 to win the match 5-4.
