ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team picked up a crucial MIAC win on the road by a 3-1 score over the College of Saint Benedict. The Royals found themselves down 1-0 midway through the second period but scored three unanswered goals the rest of the way to take the victory.
Hadley Cookson,
Kathryn Larson and
Kalie Johnson scored Bethel's goals while
Michelle Klimstra made 15 saves.
Bethel outshot Saint Ben's 12-2 in the first period but neither team scored. The Blazers scored the game's first goal at 8:09 in the second period. Five minutes later Bethel tied the game up on a score by
Hadley Cookson.
Jill Larson and
Wendy Roberts assisted. The game stayed tied at 1-1 until 13:30 into the third period when
Kathryn Larson connected from
Megan O'Brian.
Kalie Johnson teamed up with
Lindsay Burman and
Briita Nelson at 17:31 for the final tally of the night.
The Royals and Blazers will faceoff Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Bethel University Arena. The Royals will be honoring their two seniors,
Lindsay Burman and
Kalie Johnson prior to the game.
