BLAINE, Minn. - The Bethel University men's hockey team got into the win column behind a stellar performance by goaltender
Matt Rowe in a 2-0 victory over Saint John's University. Rowe made 31 saves to record his second career shutout. The Royals two goals came from
Jackson Purvis and
Michael Chuinard.
After a scoreless first period Bethel broke through 15:31 into the second period with the first goal when
Travis Walls fired a shot in and
Jackson Purvis deflected it into the upper left corner. The Royals scored again just 58 seconds into the third period with Chuinard scoring on assists from
Dylan Webster and
Jackson Purvis. The Johnnies would go on to outshoot Bethel 15-2 in the period but were shutdown by Rowe. Amazingly, just a single penalty was called on each team.
Bethel will now look to complete the series sweep tomorrow evening at the MAC in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The puck will drop at 7 p.m.
