RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The Bethel University women's hockey team ran into an impressive University of Wisconsin-River Falls team Saturday afternoon and fell on the road to the sixth-ranked Falcons by a 5-1 score. The Royals fell behind early on with the Falcons scoring three first period goals. Bethel was able to slow UWRF down in the second period however as neither team scored before the Royals got on the board with a
Wendy Roberts goal mid-way through the third period. The Falcons were able to tack on two more goals however to keep the Royals momentum short-lived.
The Royals will now turn their attention to MIAC play as they take on the Saint Mary's University Cardinals. The matchup will be a rematch of the first round MIAC playoff game from a season ago in which the Royals went on the road at took a 7-1 victory against the Cardinals on their way to the MIAC Championship game. Bethel will travel to Winona on Friday night for a 7 p.m. game before hosting the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Bethel University Arena.
