Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team dropped their second consecutive 2-1 decision to open the 2015-16 season Friday night, this time to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. After falling to Marian University last Saturday, Friday's game looked quite similar as the Royals were able to create several good scoring chances and held a lead in the shot totals most of the night but were just unable to find the back of the net more than once.
UW-Eau Claire scored once in each of the first two periods before Bethel was able to close the gap in the third period when freshman
Kirsten Olson was able to score her first collegiate goal just 51 seconds into the third.
Sarina Goos and
Hadley Cookson assisted Olson. The Blugolds were able to hold the Royals off the rest of the way however, for the 2-1 victory. The win over Bethel was the first for UWEC since 2010 as the Royals had won seven of the last eight matchups with the lone non-win being a tie in 2011.
Bethel will have to regroup quickly as they head to River Falls, Wisconsin Saturday for an afternoon contest with the No. 6 ranked UWRF Falcons. The puck will drop at 2:05 p.m.
