Single Goal Enough for No. 3 UST to Top Bethel, 1-0

Box Score

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team held down the high scoring, No. 3-ranked University of St. Thomas once again Saturday afternoon but were still unable to come away with a victory as they fell 1-0 to the Tommies. UST entered the weekend series as the highest scoring team in the MIAC, averaging four goals per game, but scored just three on Bethel in the two games. The three goals were enough to earn three points in the MIAC standings for UST however with Friday's 2-2 tie and Saturday's 1-0 St. Thomas victory.

UST scored the games lone goal midway through the first period as four of the five goals scored by the two teams in the series came in the opening frame. Neither team was able to score in the remaining 48:24 of the game. Michelle Klimstra was outstanding in net for Bethel, making 29 saves. UST outshot Bethel 29-23 in the game.

The Royals are now 1-1-2 in the MIAC after today's loss while St. Thomas improves to 2-1-1. Bethel will take a week off  before returning to action with a series against winless St. Catherine. The series will begin on Thursday night in St. Paul before concluding on Friday night in Bethel University Arena at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
