Women's Basketball Splits Weekend Series in Naperville

NAPERVILLE, Ill.—The Bethel University women's basketball team split its weekend series at the North Central College Classic in Naperville, Ill. The Royals (2-1) fell to No.13-ranked Maryville College 43-65 Friday afternoon, but rallied Saturday afternoon by dominating Principia College 91-49.
 
BU was held to just 43 points against Maryville Friday. The Royals shot 21.6 percent throughout the game and 13 percent from downtown. Shanni Moorse led Bethel with 12 points and five rebounds, while Molly O'Toole poured in eight points and grabbed seven boards.
 
Saturday's nonconference contest against Principia was a completely different story, as the Royals scored 91 points on 50 percent shooting and 38.1 percent shooting from outside the arc. Bethel was perfect from the foul line, cashing in on all 11 attempts.
 
BU dominated Principia in points off turnovers 27-7, bench points 40-0, and points in the paint 46-22. Four players scored in double figures, including Molly O'Toole, who led Bethel with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting and seven rebounds.
 
Freshman Hannah Johnson was sensational, as she finished with not only her first-ever double-double, but a perfect performance from the floor as well. Johnson scored 14 points on 7-of-7 shooting, alongside 11 boards. Shanni Moorse scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting and Angie Kirchoff added 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
 
Molly O'Toole was honored to the All-Tournament Team following the two-day event. O'Toole scored 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting, boarded 14 shots, dished three assists, swiped three steals, and swatted two blocks throughout the weekend.
 
The Royals continue their season Tuesday, November 24 in River Falls, Wisconsin, where they will face the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 7 p.m.
