Parupsky Nets 1,000th as Royals Roll to Sixth Straight

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—You know it's a good night when you not only pick up a conference victory, but also when you have five players that could've easily been coined the star of the game. That's exactly what the Bethel University women's basketball team did Wednesday night, as their 90-77 triumph over St. Catherine University proved to be their sixth win in a row. With the MIAC victory over the Wildcats the Royals improved to 14-4 on the season and 8-3 in loop play.

The fun doesn't stop there, though. Bethel's overall team performance displayed five different standout performances that all deserve proper recognition. Rachel Parupsky had the loudest night, as the junior forward reached the 1,000-point milestone—becoming the second fastest player to ever reach this momentous achievement in program history. Parupsky accomplished this feat on her way to 15 points over the course of 32 minutes played. She also hauled down eight rebounds and swatted five blocks.

In addition to Parupsky it was Sydney Schultz and Hannah Niewald that each had an exceptional showcase. Schultz was 7-of-13 from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point territory for 22 points and three assists. She scored a team-high 13 points in the opening 20 minutes of play.

Niewald also had 22 points, but she picked up right where Schultz left off, as the junior guard netted 15 points in the final frame. Niewald was 6-of-9 from the floor and an amazing 10-of-11 at the charity stripe. She also dished out five assists, boarded five shots, and swiped two steals.

Kalli Zimmermann also finished in double digits, pouring in 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 6-of-8 from the foul line. Zimmermann grabbed four rebounds and delivered a pair of dimes in 32 minutes of play.

Finally, but certainly not unequal, Lindy Parker provided some serious muscle off the bench. Parker scored two points, picked one steal, and blocked one shot, but where she made the biggest impact was on the glass, pulling down 16 rebounds throughout the night—a career high for the senior forward.

All five of those performances helped the Royals shoot 51 percent from the floor and 71.4 percent from outside the 3-point arc. Bethel finished 25-of-37 from the free throw stripe and outrebounded the Wildcats 44-34.

BU hopes to heighten its momentum this Saturday with a head-to-head matchup against Saint Mary's University, who was the conference champion one year ago. The Royals and Cardinals tipoff at 1 p.m. in the Robertson Gym.
