ST. PETER, Minn.—The Bethel University men's tennis team fell to No. 18 ranked and MIAC leader, Gustavus Adolphus College, 9-0 this afternoon at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minn.

"This will be the best team we'll play all year and they definitely showed that today," said head tennis coach Drew Fernelius. "They are unbelievably talented players and were ready to play my guys."

Some highlights from the afternoon are from the No. 6 singles spot, Kent Schaller, who fought a quality match and the longest match of the afternoon but could not prevail and fell 2-6 and 3-6. No. 1 doubles, Luke Palmquist and Kirby Ronning also played very tough and tried staying with talented Gustavus in their doubles match but also were overpowered 3-8.

"The guys continue to work hard and I am very proud of the effort that the guys put together today and hopefully they'll be at this level soon to compete with teams like Gustavus," concluded Fernelius.

Both Bethel University's Men's and Women's tennis are getting ready to travel to Orlando, Fla., for their Spring Break trip this Friday. "We are excited to go to Florida and then come back and try to reach our goal of making the playoffs and getting better every single day," said coach Fernelius.

Bethel falls to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the MIAC. The Royals will next take on Otterbein University, Friday at 11 a.m., in Orlando Fla.
