ST. PETER, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team fell on the road at Gustavus Adolphus College by a 4-1 score. The Gusties assured themselves of the No. 2 seed in next week's MIAC playoffs while Bethel will be unable to move up from eighth in the league standings.
EJ Gann scored Bethel's lone goal, shorthanded.
Gustavus scored twice in the last five minutes of the first period to take a 2-0 lead and added their third goal at 13:33 in the second before Bethel was able to get on the board. Gann scored Bethel's goal while shorthanded with just 36 seconds remaining in the second period.
Josh Shingler and
Garrett Windle assisted on the play. The Gusties added an empty net goal with less than a minute remaining for the 4-1 final.
Steven Bolton made 37 saves in net for Bethel.
The Royals will return home for their final game of the season Saturday night at 7 p.m. The game will mark the end of the Bethel careers for eight seniors;
