BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team found themselves in a quick hole against No. 14 Wisconsin-River Falls and were unable to dig all the way out, falling 5-2. The Royals scored the last two goals of the game but were unable to draw any closer, despite a five-on-three power play at one point in the third period.
The Falcons scored four goals within the first 11:04 of the first period to take firm control of the game. UWRF then added their fifth goal early in the second period on a power play. Bethel scored their first power play goal of the season at 14:43 in the second period when
Brock Raffaele was able to deflect a shot into the net.
Mitch Hughes and
Eric Szafranski assisted. The Royals scored another power play goal at 17:38 in the third period with
Al Nejmeh scoring for Bethel.
Travis Payne and Hughes assisted. In all the Royals had seven power plays, converting on two, while River Falls had four power plays.
Matt Rowe made 34 saves for Bethel.
The Royals will travel to No. 9 ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday night to take on the Blugolds. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. and live video can be found
