Royals Shutout by Yellowjackets, 2-0

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's hockey team was unable to generate any offense in a 2-0 loss at home to the University of Wisconsin-Superior. The Royals were shutout for the first time in the 2013-14 season in their return to the ice following a month off. Wisconsin-Superior scored once in the second period and once in the third while outshooting Bethel 38-12 in the game.

Steven Bolton kept the Royals within striking distance, making 36 saves, allowing just the two goals. The first goal came just after the Royals were back at full strength midway through the second period. The Yellowjackets second goal came four minutes into the third period on a power play. Bethel had just two power plays of their own and was unable to get a shot off. UWS took nine shots in their four power plays, scoring once.

With the loss the Royals are now 1-10-2 on the year while UW-Superior improved to 5-7-2. The Royals will welcome Finlandia University to the Bethel University Arena Saturday night for a 7 p.m. contest.
