EUA CLAIRE, Minn. – The Bethel University men's tennis team was defeated 8-1 by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Sunday afternoon. The match was moved indoors to the fieldhouse at UW-Eau Claire due to the rain the previous two days. The Royals lone win came at No. 1 doubles as Tucker Morris and Reggie Ronning were victorious 8-6.
“Tucker and Reggie were definitely the highlight of the day,” said Bethel coach Drew Fernelius. “They played really well and beat a very good team.”
The win for Morris and Ronning improved their season record to 7-3. Unfortunately for the Royals no other doubles teams were able to pull off a victory and the Blugolds swept all six singles matches.
With the win UW-Eau Claire improved to 14-5 on the season while the Royals fell to 5-8. Bethel will be back in action with a home match against the University of St. Thomas Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
