Day two milestones

Haskins handed second All-American award
With a time of 4:12.07, Zach Haskins not only broke his own school record in the 1-mile race, but the junior track and field student-athlete from Maple Grove, Minn., was also honored as a 2013 NCAA Division III All-American. Haskins time placed 6th, which was within the Top 8 to be awarded as All-Americans. This award is the second in Haskins career, as he was an All-American in the 1500-meter race at the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Baseball gives up no earned runs in 14 innings of play
The Royals split a two-game series with Wheaton College Saturday, as Bethel allowed an unearned run to score in the first game to lose 0-1, but came back to batter the Thunder in game two, 9-2. Jake Hanzalik pitched game one, striking out seven and walking nobody, in a nail-biter, while Matt Rowley followed suit in game two with seven K's, one walk, and five hits allowed throughout six innings of work.

Trip-city
Bethel utility player, Mike Schultz, recorded two hits, four runs batted in, and one run in Saturday night's second game against Wheaton. Schultz's two hits were both triples, as the sophomore from Forest Lake led the Royals in the cleanup spot.

Sorensen knows softball to the fourth degree
Sophomore softball sensation, Kal Sorensen, had a solid day at the plate—finishing 2-for-5 with a walk and two runs batted. Sorensen now has four walks, four hits, and four RBI after four games played.

Good signs
Despite dropping two games today, Bethel's softball squad allowed just four earned runs throughout 13 innings of play. Sophomore Courtney Saurer gave up just one earned run, while striking out five and walking two against Gannon University. Meanwhile, Karli Persson allowed three earned runs, while striking out five in seven innings of work.
