Day two milestones
Haskins milestone continued…
Haskins time of 4:12.07 in the 1-mile event Saturday was not only a personal best, and a Bethel University best, but it was also the first time the Royals have had an NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field All-American since 2010. The last to do so was Taylor Ferda in the 55m hurdles event and in the 4x400-meter relay with Joel Quick, Eric Rhode, and
Zach Schlegel, as well as Marie Borner in the 1-mile run.
Hits, hits, and more hits…
In Bethel's nine-inning game against Drew University Sunday, the Royals recorded 14 hits with
Luke Schultz leading the way. Schultz went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in and two runs scored. Meanwhile,
Nik Anderson went 3-for-5 with a walk and scored four runs.
Bethel web gems…
Logan Lisle completed three consecutive 6-3 put outs today in the Royals exhibition game against Drew University. Lisle's three put outs were not routine, but forced the freshman to make a number of diving stops. Lisle took lessons from starting short stop
Nik Anderson, who has made a number of dynamic plays at the six-spot.
Daily temps…
Florida's weather Sunday consisted of constant sun, with lows in the high 70's and a mild breeze. Players and fans were welcomed with beautiful weather.
Matt Pryor commented, “It's amazing how loose you feel when you're already warm. Your hands are warm, the ball is warm, and it just makes me feel like you're ready a lot quicker.”
Softball goes undefeated…
Late JV softball games kept us from providing box scores (will come as soon as possible), however, Sunday was the first time the Royals have gone undefeated in a day throughout the 2013 season. With the two wins Bethel improved to 3-3 on the season and prepares for Ripon College and the University of Texas-Dallas.
