Women's Hockey Weekend Preview: UW-Eau Claire

Friday Live Stats / Video  |  Saturday Live Stats / Video

Bethel head coach Brian Carlson took some time to answer a few questions about the team heading into this weekend's series with Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Coach Carlson has been unable to record his weekly video interviews after suffering a broken jaw during the Royals November 23rd game against Concordia. Carlson was hit in the right side of the jaw by a puck that was shot into the bench area during the second period. Carlson left the rink during the second intermission and ended up needing surgery the next day as his jaw was broken in two places and has been wired shut since.

Coach, first off how is your jaw feeling and how is the recovery going?
The jaw is feeling great. Most likely I have about two more weeks of recovery.

How do you feel about the team's performance so far and what are you hoping to see from them this weekend in the non-conference matchup with UW-Eau Claire before heading into the semester break?
I am really happy with the team so far this year. We are looking to have a little more consistency on the power play and getting scoring from more players. We are also looking for continued growth and contributions from the freshman.

Last weekend against Hamline, 10 different Royals scored points with six different goal scorers. Is that the kind of balance you are looking for?
We benefitted from it greatly, and its something I hope continues!
