NORTHFIELD, Minn. –
The Bethel University men's hockey team, like the Bethel women, were victims of three consecutive goals by St. Olaf as the men fell by the same score as the women, 5-2. The scoring pattern was also identical to the women's game, as St. Olaf scored first before the Royals tied the game at 1-1, followed by three consecutive St. Olaf tallies. A Bethel score brought it to 4-2 before St. Olaf added an empty netter for the final margin.

Dan Rowland and Mitch Hughes scored the Royals goals, as both came on power plays. The goal for Hughes was his team leading ninth of the year and extended his point scoring streak to eight games. After racking up 24 penalties in the Saint Mary's series the previous weekend, the Royals were whistled just twice, while St. Olaf had four penalties. Steven Bolton made his season debut in goal for the Royals and made 22 saves.

The Oles have now joined into a three-way tie for third place in the MIAC standings with 10 points alongside Bethel and Concordia. The two teams will come to the Bethel University Arena Saturday night at 7 p.m.
