The Royals' men's tennis unit only managed three match victories against MIAC foe Saint John's University Saturday, as the Johnnies went on to defeat Bethel at the Ona Orth Complex 6-3. BU composed one doubles victory and two singles wins.
In the doubles competition
Tucker Morris (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn.) and
Reggie Ronning (Jr., Alexandria, Minn.) garnered an 8-4 victory over the No. 1 doubles duo for the Johnnies, and despite highly competitive matches in the No. 2 and 3 competitions, neither match ended in BU's favor, falling 8-6 and 9-7.
Reggie Ronning continued his success in singles play, defeating his opponent in the No. 3 competition 5-7, 7-5, 10-4.
Steven Schull (So., Eagan, Minn.) also helped out the Royals with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 5 singles showcase.
Tucker Morris and
Bryce Johnson (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) were each in grueling singles battles, however, both fell in a extra play.
The Royals, now 2-8 overall, look to build on its play Saturday against Saint John's as it prepares for the University of St. Thomas on April 12. Bethel has five matches left in the 2012 season, in which all will be counted towards its conference record.
