ST. PETER, Minn. - The Bethel University women's hockey team fell behind early to the #2 Gustavus Adolphus Gusties in a non-conference matchup and were defeated 3-1 Saturday afternoon. The Gusties scored on a power play goal just over three minutes into the game and then added a short handed goal with five minutes remaining in the period. Biz Huss (Sr., Beaver Bay, Minn.) got the Royals on the board with her fifth goal of the season. She was assisted by
Cristina Masten (Jr., Fergus Falls, Minn.) and
Lindsay Burman (Jr., Stanchfield, Minn.) on the power play tally. Neither team scored in the third period.
For the game Bethel was outshot 32-18 by the 8-0-0 Gusties and converted just one of their five power play opportunities while also allowing Gustavus the short handed goal. Freshman
Erika Allen got the start in the net for Bethel and made 29 saves while Gustavus used a different goalie each period.
With the loss Bethel falls to 6-4-1 overall heading into the semester break. They are in a three-way tie for third place at 3-2-1 in the MIAC while Gustavus sits alone at the top at 6-0. The Royals will travel to Italy at the end of December and play several exhibtion games before returning home for a pair of non-conference games on January 11 and 16.
