MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Bethel University men's hockey team found themselves on the losing end of a 4-1 game Friday night against the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Raiders scored the first four goals of the game in the first two periods before the Royals
Colin Mayer scored an unassisted goal near the end of the second period. It was the second straight loss for the Royals after a three game winning streak and drops Bethel to 4-5 on the season.
“It was a disappointing performance,” Royals coach
Charlie Burggraf said. “We did not sustain any energy on the puck and gave them too many chances down low and we paid for it. Unless we play a disciplined game we will not be happy with the outcome.”
Two of the Raiders four goals were scored on power play's while the Royals were 0-5 in their power play opportunities. Bethel took just three shots within the first four power plays, before taking seven shots in the final five-on-four. For the game the Raiders outshot the Royals 30-22.
The two teams will face off Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kern Center in Milwaukee. MSE is the top team in the receiving votes category of the most recent USCHO.com top 15 poll and improved to 4-3 with the win.
