Royals Fall at #3 Gustavus

Gustavus takes the series and conference opening game 3-1

ST. PETER, Minn. – The #3 ranked Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey team handed the Bethel Royals a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opening defeat by the score of 3-1 Friday night. The Gusties took a 3-0 lead after the first two periods before the Royals scored their lone goal during the third period. Lindsay Burman scored her fourth goal of the season with Biz Huss recording her sixth assist.

The Royals were outshot 28-13 in the first two periods and 34-19 for the game. Gustavus was one 1-3 on power play opportunities while Bethel was 0-2. The Gusties won the face-off battle 34-28. Jess Newstrom took the loss in the goal for the Royals and made a total of 31 saves.

Bethel will look to salvage a split at home in the Bethel University Arena at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. Saturday afternoon. The puck will drop at 3 p.m.
