ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
- The Bethel Royals put an end to their 6-game losing skid Tuesday afternoon at Hargis Park when they took down Concordia College 10-9 in the first game of a doubleheader. The Royals battled back from a 7-2 deficit to win the game and improve their MIAC record to 7-8. Unfortunately, the winning ways couldn't continue in game two, as the Royals dropped the contest to the Cobbers 10-0.

Game one was full of action as both teams struggled to get on the board in the early going. With the Royals on top 1-0 entering into the fourth inning, the Cobbers strung together a five run frame to put themselves ahead 5-1. Concordia would tack on two more runs in the top of the fifth to improve their lead to 7-2. However, the Royals would not go down without a fight. Following Travis Piepho reaching on an error, Jay Slick singled to left field to put runners on first and second. Erik Anderson then delivered a clutch two RBI double down the left field line that scored Piepho and Slick. Mike Sedjo would go onto knock in Anderson with an sac fly RBI to cut the lead to 7-5. Matt Rowley, who had singled early in the inning, was on third when Buddy Flaherty singled to make the game 7-6. A David Freed sac fly to center to score Flaherty, made the score 7-7 at the end of the inning.

Concordia would add two runs in the top of the seventh to take over a late 9-7 lead, but the Royals fireworks were yet to start. Piepho led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk and scored immediately following a Slick triple to left center. Anderson then drove in Slick with a sac fly RBI to knot the game up at nine. Back-to-back singles by Rowley and Sedjo put the Royals in scoring position to collect the walk-off victory. With the double steal, Rowley advanced to third while Sedjo stood on second. Austin Hanson woul go onto fly out to center field, but the ball was deep enough to score Rowley on the sac fly, as the Royals scored their tenth and final run of a 10-9 Bethel victory.

The Royals couldn't quite muster up the same magic in game two of the doubleheader, falling by a score of 10-0. The split with the Cobbers now puts the Royals at a 7-9 record in the MIAC with an 18-16 overall mark.

Jay Slick finished the day going 5-8 at the dish with a two singles, a double, triple, and a home run.

Up next for the Royals will be Saint Mary's University Wednesday afternoon in Winona, Minnesota. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
