Royals End Regular Season Play in 3-Way Tie for 2nd Place

The Royals clinch the #3 seed for the conference playoffs

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -
The Bethel women's hockey team finished the regular season this weekend with two wins over the Hamline University Pipers. The wins lock the Royals into the MIAC playoffs as the 3 seeds in this years tournament.

On Friday night the Royals downed the Pipers 5-0 and the scoring was a balanced attack as 5 different women contributed to the final. In the 1st period freshman Cristina Masten got things started , scoring at the 11 minute mark with the assistance of Rachael Geng, and Alllison Papko. Later in the 2nd period goal were scored by Biz Huss, and Kassy Sullivan. In the final 20 minutes the Royals tacked on two more from Anna Carlson and Kate Wahlin.

Saturday afternoons event got started a little slower, but the Royals were able to come away with another convincing win, defeating the Pipers 3-0. Biz Huss was first to score for Bethel, putting the puck in the net half way through the first. Additional goals came from Allison Papko who scored once in the 2nd and once in the 3rd to set the final at 3.

With the wins the Royals closed out the regular season on a 4 game winning streak. The Royals next action will be Thursday nights semifinal matchup against #2 seed St. Thomas. The puck drops in Mendota Heights at 7 p.m.
