ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel Men's Hockey team lost a pair of MIAC games this past weekend against the University of St. Thomas Tommies. Friday night's game, which was held at the Bethel University Arena, saw the Royals stumble to an 8-3 lose. Saturday's match-up wasn't much better for the Royals as they once again lost by a significant amount, 7-2.
In Friday's game, St. Thomas (13-9-2 overall, 8-5-2 MIAC) scored four unanswered goals in the third period to secure the win and move closer to locking up an MIAC playoff berth for the 26th time in 26 seasons. Tom Menozzi (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.)
Jack Paul (So., Minnetonka, Minn.), and Christian Fogerty (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) accounted for Bethel's three goals.
Saturday evening's affair was once again all Tommies. The win now secures them a playoff spot within the MIAC conference later this year. Paul accounted for one of Bethel's goals on the evening, with the other coming off the stick of
Chris Fiala (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.). St. Thomas senior Andrew Kappers had two of the Tommies seven goals. Kappers also had a hat trick in Friday night's game.
The Royals will close out the regular season this weekend when they take on Augsburg College Friday and Saturday night. Their last home game will be Friday evening, when the puck drops at 7 p.m.
