NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethel Women's Hockey team went to St. Olaf's home ice on Saturday and were put to the test. In a battle that ended at a 1-1 tie the Royals come out of the weekend with 3 out of 4 points and a MIAC record of 5-3-2.
The match-up was largely even as the Royals and Oles put up near even shots against each other (27-24 in favor of the Royals).
Scoring wouldn't happen until the second period when St. Olaf's Nicole Stumf (Soph., Oakdale, Minn.) scored from Alana Patrick (Fr., Medota Heights, Minn.) and Tara Reyeits (Fr., Grand Rapids, Mich.).
The Royals wouldn't answer this goal until late in the third period with 2:47 left in regulation. It would be
Biz Huss on the power play that would score the GTG, with the assists going to
Cristina Masten and
Allison Papko. Overtime wouldn't produce many chances for either team as time ran out.
The Royals play next weekend versus Saint Catherine University. Their home game is scheduled for Saturday, February 5th at 3:00 p.m.
