Strong Singles Play Leads to 6-3 Win Over Saint John's

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Despite trailing 2-1 after doubles play, the Royals bounced back to win five out of six singles matches to defeat the visiting Saint John's Johnnies 6-3 at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.

Tom Ronning (Sr., Alexandria, Minn.) and Kent Nichols (So., Zimmerman, Minn.) won handily in doubles competition, 8-2. Jordan LeFebvre (Sr., Roseville, Minn.) and Michael Kreklau (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) played a tight doubles match, but fell 8-9.

In singles, Ronning, Tucker Morris (Fr., Arden Hills, Minn.), LeFebvre, and Bryce Johnson (So., Blaine, Minn.) all won in straight sets, while Joel Cassens (Sr., Owatonna, Minn.) won 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

Head Coach Dan Morton said, "We played great singles. It's good to see us playing closer to our potential. Hopefully we can get on a roll and peak at the right time."

The win helps Bethel improve to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in MIAC play, while the Johnnies fall to 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The Royals are scheduled to take on Saint Mary's in Winona this Saturday beginning at noon for their next match.
