WINONA, Minn. - The Bethel Royals men's tennis team picked up their second straight Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win this weekend as they posted a 8-1 victory on the road against the Saint Mary's University Cardinals.
The Royals got off to a fast start, sweeping the doubles portion of the match.
#Tom Ronning# (Sr., Alexandria, Minn.) and
Kent Nichols (So., Zimmerman, Minn.) dominated their match, winning 8-3, while the duo of
Joel Cassens (Sr., Owatonna, Minn.) and
Tucker Morris (Fr., Arden Hills, Minn.) won 8-4, and the pairing of
Jordan LeFebvre (Sr., Roseville, Minn.) and
Michael Kreklau (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) won 8-2.
Moving into singles competition proved to be no different as Ronning, Cassens, Nichols, Morris, and
Bryce Johnson (So., Blaine, Minn.) all won their matches in straight sets. Morris won his match without dropping a single game winning 6-0, 6-0.
With this weekends win, the Royals improve to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play while the Cardinals fall to 8-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play. The Royals look to extend their winning streak Friday, April 23, at 4:30 p.m. as they are scheduled to host the Concordia College Cobbers.
