KISSIMMEE, Fla. -
Royals tennis players traveled down to Florida this past week, not only to relax in the sun but also to win some tennis matches. Throughout their week in the Sunshine State, the Royals played five matches, winning four and losing only one.

In Bethel's first match they took on Webber International Universtiy and lost 9-0. The Royals could have let the shutout ruin their trip, but instead they bounced back to win their next four matches. In their second match the Royals played UW-LaCrosse and were able to pick up an exciting 5-4 win. The only doubles team to win was the duo of Tom Ronning (Sr., Alexandria, Minn.) and Tucker Morris (Fr., Arden Hills, Minn.). With the Royals trailing 2-1 heading into the singles matches, they needed to come up and big, and they did just that by winning four of the six singles matches to clinch the win.  Winning singles matches for Bethel were Ronning, Morris, Joel Cassens (Sr., Owatonna, Minn.), and Jordan LeFebvre (Sr., Roseville, Minn.). Ronning, Cassens, and Morris all won three-set matches.

The Royals next three wins were a little less nerve-wracking as they beat St. Ambrose University 9-0, Nichols College 7-2, and Otterbein College 8-1. Bethel's doubles teams went 9-0 during their three wins thanks to the teams of Ronning and Kent Nichols (So., Zimmerman, Minn.), Cassens and Morris, and LeFebvre and Michael Kreklau (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.). In the singles matches Morris and Bryce Johnson (So., Blaine, Minn.) each had three wins, while Cassens and Sam Scheevel (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) each contributed two wins.

Up next for the Royals is a match at Macalester on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.
