Box Score
Ft. Myers, Fla. - The Royals were looking to build on their five game winning streak as they squared off against Lakeland College for the third time in two days, but were unable to walk away with the victory.
David Freed (Fr., North Oaks, Minn.) came out with a strong pitching performance, going perfect through the first three innings. He finished his day after walking a batter in the top of the seventh inning, going 6+ innings, allowing just two earned runs on one hit and striking out three.
Unfortunately for the Royals, the solid performance by the freshman was outdone by the Muskie starter Lee Chepil, who gave up just one run in a complete game performance. Throughout the game the Royal offense struggled to push runners across, leaving ten runners on base.
Mike Sedjo (So., West Chicago, Ill.) drove across the lone run the Royals recorded on one of his three hits on the game, driving in
Jay Slick (So., River Falls, Wis.), who drew three walks.
Buddy Flaherty (So., Victoria, Minn.) did his best to help fuel the offense with a 2 for 4 day at the plate, but Chepil was able to avoid the big innings that Bethel produced earlier in the week.
The Royals will now head back home, going 7-3 on the Spring Break trip and raising their overall record to 9-6. They will have two weeks off before they travel to Collegeville, Minn. for their next game against St. John's University.
