FT. MYERS, Fla. - The Bethel baseball team has enjoyed more than just the great Florida weather on this year's Spring Break trip.  With today's doubleheader sweep of Lakeland College, the Royals have now won five in a row.

In the first game, the Royals found themselves in a familiar situation as the game remained tight until the last out was recorded.  Matt Johnson (Jr., Vadnais Heights, Minn.) gave the Royals a solid pitching performance, giving up four earned runs over 5-2/3 innings before John Slick (Sr., River Falls, Wis.) slammed the door shut on the Muskie rally for his third save of the season.

Travis Piepho (So., Minneapolis, Minn.) and Slick both went 2-for-3 with an RBI on the game, while Erik Anderson (Jr., Arden Hills, Minn.) and Jay Slick (So., River Falls, Wis.) both chipped in two hits for the Royal offense.

Much like yesterday's doubleheader, the late game was all about the starting pitching.  Chris Dent (Jr., Marietta, Ohio) bounced back from his last start to pitch a gem for the Royals. He gave up just three hits and struck out five batters as the Muskies managed only five base runners in the complete game shutout by Dent.

John Slick had another great game at the plate going 2-for-3 with three RBI and Bob Tokar (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. The Royals third through sixth hitters, which included Jay Slick, Anderson, John Slick, and Tokar, combined for seven hits, five runs, and all eight RBI in the second game.

The Royals are now 9-5 overall, including a 7-2 record in Ft. Myers. Today's wins also move Head Coach Greg Indlecoffer within one win of 150 in his career. Tomorrow the Royals will look to finish their trip on a high note as they play one more game against Lakeland College at Terry Park at 9 a.m. (8 CT).
