MOORHEAD, Minn. The Women's Hockey team swept the Concordia College Cobbers this weekend with a 7-1 win on Friday, and a 4-1 victory today. Bethel's scoring was all over the board as they showed their dominance both offensively and defensively. Goal-tending also had a notable performance as
Jess Newstrom stopped a cumulative 65 shots this weekend.
Although slightly different from the result of last night, the Royals began scoring in the second period with a goal by
Biz Huss from
Melanie Robertson on the power play. Scoring again for the Royals was
Melanie Robertson from
Molly Eagles and
Cristina Masten.
The scoring keep up in the third as the Royals kept scoring, this time by
Cristina Masten from Rachel Geng and
Anna Carlson. It was late in the third that Concordia finally broke the plane but
Biz Huss added insult to injury when she scored one more time before the buzzer.
The Women's Hockey team now holds a record of 3-2-1 in the MIAC. Their next game is January 21st, 2011 against St. Mary's University. Puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
